The craziness that is my llife

I am sharing something deep about my life with you because this is a blog about my ups and downs, and this is one of my downs. It's embarassing to put this out there, but I just feel so down in the dumps right now.

To show you how cluttered and scatterbrained I am, I have to share with you that my gas was cut off this morning. I had no idea this was going ot happen. How do you not know? Don't you keep track of these things? How do you know that you didn't pay the bill? Didn't you get a notice?

Well, I did get a bill and I did get a notice that it would be cut off. Where were these notices? In a huge stack of paperwork on my desk. The envelopes were still sealed. I never even opened them. I put them in a too be read pile on my desk and then because my desk is so cluttered, I never opened them. I am so upset with myself right now. I am so worried about calling my hubby right now.

I feel like the world is against me. Or that I am against me. I have a gas stove. I have been really into cooking dinner for my family and because I was disoraganized and cluttered, I screwed myself up. I was really starting to enjoy something, and then I had to go and screw it up. I guess it was my reality check. Things aren't roses and puppy dogs. No matter how hard I try and change soemthing in my life, I am just reminded what a screw up I really am.

I am just in a really dark place right now. Instead of giving in and going to get something to eat to drown my sorrows, I am just going to go pay my bill and hope they can come tomorrow to turn it back on.

I will not let this happen again. It changes now.

  1. I think you should take this as an opportunity to organize your desk and come up with a system.
When I go out to the mailbox I open and read everything right away. The junk goes in the trash before it even gets in the door. I have done similar things myself and eventually had to admit that I wasn't responsible enough to pay the bills and gave the job to my husband,. Of course this has it's disadvantages too.
Go pay the bill today, they will come out tomorrow and you will be back in business. If not well then I guess it's BBQ night or sandwich night.

  2. I am also guilty of being extremely UNorganized! I had my phone turned off once because the bill had gotten lost in the mess I like to call "my life" :) Organization is something I struggle with everyday...believe me, you're not alone! Good luck finding a system that works for you. It's just life sometimes, not the end of the world :) Cheer up!

  3. I just had the same thing happen to me - for me though, it was about my unemployment. I should have received a letter letting me know that I had to go to a mandatory orientation session on 7/28. Because I didn't go to that session, my unemployment benefits could be cut off. I found the letter in the car, unopened, along with a few bills that are overdue. Its okay, it happens. Don't stress too much about it. They'll be able to come and turn your gas back on, and if your hubby gets upset about it, tell him he can pay the bills next time... that'll get him to shut up!!! :-)

  4. I am like you too. I would have done the same if my hubby, 'the organized' one did not exists. Its not like we are born with organizational skills. We have to learn them. Take this event and turn it into an opportunity to get organized! You'll do well :)

  5. Girlfriend! You have no idea how many of us have done the same thing. Don't be hard on yourself. Life happens. It's happened to so many. It happened to me just the other day with my American Eagle credit card. Blasted credit service people were calling me and I had no idea about the bill. Duh! My bad, but I'm over it. Don't lose any sleep over it.

As the song goes, tomorrow's another day, so bring on the rain!

  6. Laura,
My gas was cut off on a Friday in May and I paid like an extra 60 dollars just to make sure they would come and turn it back on that day (They were going to make me wait until Monday!) just so my husband wouldn't find out. I anxiously waited at work for their call that they were coming because I had to be there for them to turn it back on (luckily we live so close to my school!).
I have also accidentally let the power be turned off, about 3 years ago.
Oh, and since we moved here to bacliff, I have forgotten to pay the water bill on time and had it cut off twice because they don't even send you a notice here, they just cut it off!!

I pretty much need every thing auto-drafted from my account like the day after pay day to avoid these things. Hopefully it will never happen again!
